Mominette

I like this tune best when it’s fast, but here’s a slow melodeon tutorial by Clive Williams:
Scottische a Bethanie

A fun jazzed-up version. Hit “show more” for history of the tune:

Haapavesi Waltz

Haapavesi is a town in Finland, the site of a large international folk music festival. Wikipedia says the town is also known for skiers and moonshine.

Xotis Romanés

If you want to hear it, try

Kevin Carr and others, a pretty version: La Mata Negra, a rocked-out version:

Polka de Bebe

Added a transcription from Ian Law's collection.  The B is notated straight, though we play it syncopated, which makes me wonder how the Lark French contingent plays it.  Did it start out straight and morph into being swung? Or do they still play it straight?  Who knows?

This is a tune by Andy Letcher.  Here is a link to his blog post about music notation which includes the notation for the tune as well as links to a sound a video file.
He does it in G.  It also works well in D.

Here is another rendering by an English band :

Les hauts sur les montagnes

One of the tunes we played at the Three Cripples. There is a rest at the end of the first time through the A section. We have been calling it "Let's Get High in the Mountains", which will likely cause someone to twitch. It is notated in G, but sometimes I play it in C.
