Tunes for the Pipe & Bowl Morris and Newcastle Country Dancers

Trunkles

by Jay Doane

We play this with a bit of a swing, so even though I wrote this with even eighth-notes, it ends up sounding syncopated.

When it’s played for the dance, it’s
AA BBB with slow capers on the 2nd half of the B the 2nd and 3rd times through.

Actually when played for the dance it would be AA BC BC BC three times through, with slow capers for the C part on the second and third iterations.   Also there are versions of this tune that are quite similar to this on http://abcnotation.com .  Though the majority of the versions are similar to what Tim called “Old Trunkles” , several are closer to the version we play.  ( The Feildtown one for example.)   From: Newcastle Waites Sent: Sunday, November 20, 2011 3:36 PM To: brunokev@hotmail.com Subject: [waites.brunoband.com] Trunkles
