Wedding Marches

Here's an update of my previous post, with the second tune Brian used to play. I still don't know the name for these tunes, and I don't have a recording, so this isn't intended to be definitive. Hopefully it'll jog the memory banks...

Don't know the name, but I think this one is what we called the Dutch Wedding march, which was paired with the Danish as the 2nd tune. Also the part you have as the alternate first A measure is the correct way and the simpler way is an alternate. Get Outlook for Android
Upon futher thought I can't recall if it was Dutch/Danish or vice versa. The tape the first one is from was called something like Spellamener, but internet searches of that(and various spellings) yield no good results. I don't think we had another name for it. Folk tune finder isn't helping. Hoping to run into a tune sleuth next week, and will try to inquire. Attaching a recording of both. From: Posthaven Posts Sent: Thursday, April 6, 06:01
Name of the tape was Spelemaner "- means "fiddlers" in several Northern European languages..." "A lot of Scandinavian bridal marches don't have names, just labelled "Bride-march" in the written collections..." So says Simon Spaulding
I remember there being a little turnaround at the end of the final measure of each part, rather than holding that D. Thanks for resurrecting this one!
Found a recording of the second tune on Pat McSwyney's album "A Pint of Stout". He calls it Brabants Mars, and says it's a guild march from Brabant, Belgium.
That was me, Malaika. I'm the "posthaven user".
